Challenge and Outcome: Shock Conveyor for Pet Food Freezer Infeed

Wrightfield supplied a Shock Conveyor for Pet Food Freezer Infeed for Nature’s Way Foods at their Attleborough facility, supporting the production of frozen raw pet food products.

Shock Conveyor for Pet Food Freezer Infeed

The application involved handling raw slabs or patties of pet food, transferring them directly from the production line onto the infeed of a freezing system. As the product is frozen prior to packing, maintaining a consistent and controlled feed into the freezer was essential to ensure product quality and process efficiency.

A key requirement was to introduce the product onto the freezer belt at a 90-degree angle. This required a carefully designed transfer system capable of delivering a continuous and even feed without disrupting product spacing or orientation. The solution ensures that each portion is correctly positioned as it enters the freezing stage.

Given the nature of the product — wet, raw pet food — the conveyor system was designed with hygiene and cleanability in mind. Suitable belt materials were selected to handle the environment while maintaining durability and ease of maintenance.

The result is a reliable and efficient transfer solution that integrates seamlessly with the existing production and freezing process, supporting consistent throughput and product handling.
