Challenge and Outcome: Overhead conveyor system for Poultry

Wrightfield designed and supplied a bespoke conveyor system, including an overhead conveyor system for poultry cuts. The main objective was to increase the production capacity within a highly space-constrained environment.

Like many food production facilities, the site had very limited available floor space, making it difficult to introduce additional processing lines using conventional layouts. The challenge was to create a solution that allowed for increased throughput without requiring any expansion of the existing footprint.

To overcome this, Wrightfield engineered a system that made full use of the vertical space within the facility. Instead of relying on traditional floor-level conveyors, the solution elevated the product flow above head height, effectively unlocking unused space within the factory.

The system was designed to transport chicken fillets from the production area through to the packing end of the line, all while operating overhead.

This approach allowed the customer to introduce an additional line without disrupting existing operations or compromising on workspace at ground level. By rethinking the layout and utilising overhead capacity, Wrightfield delivered a practical and efficient solution that increased output while working within the physical constraints of the site.
